Sunrise. Sunset.

Why do I do these things to myself?

The children were all home over Christmas. Glorious, wonderful, magical time.
They have now all returned to their respective homes...4, 11, 12, and 15 car-driving hours away.
And what do I do today?
I work on packing up our home of 27 years in preparation for our move to something new: Down-sizing is it's name.
I go through boxes the children have left behind: 101+ dalmatians Bethany used to love; beautiful prom dresses worn by beautiful Hannah; piano books filled with songs David's fingers brought to life; theatrical memorabilia and precious writings from Jonathan's early years.

Why did I think that today would be a good time to do these things?

Missing their present presence and missing their past.
Marching on. Leaning into the sad. Looking forward to the future.
The countdown on my phone says in 58 days we will begin to gather again as family...at the beach...for the wedding of Hannah and Ryan.

Sunrise. Sunset.
Swiftly fly the years.
One season following another
Laden with happiness

And tears.

Move softly around me this week.  My eyes are leaking...with what has been and what is yet to be.
